Accessibility Statement

4x4 & Overlanding is committed to making this site usable by as many people as possible, including people who use a screen reader, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, or who need larger text, higher contrast or reduced motion.
Our Target Standard
We aim to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA (the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) across the site. That includes, among other things, a keyboard-operable interface, a “skip to main content” link on every page, labelled form fields, sufficient color contrast, and text alternatives for meaningful images.
What We Have Done
- A visible “skip to main content” link at the top of every page for keyboard and screen-reader users.
- Semantic heading structure, labelled navigation landmarks and descriptive link text throughout.
- Alt text on meaningful images; decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Forms (contact, checklist signup, My Rig, calculators) use associated labels and visible focus states.
- Our cookie-consent banner gives “Accept” and “Reject” equal visual weight and keyboard focus handling, and returns focus to where you were when it closes.
- Click-to-load video embeds avoid loading third-party iframes (and their scripts) until you actively choose to play them.
Known Limitations
We are honest that no site is perfect. Known limitations we are actively working on include:
- Some interactive widgets (the interactive trail map, embedded product tables) rely on third-party libraries (Leaflet, map tile providers) whose own accessibility is outside our direct control; we provide a text/link fallback where practical.
- Older or long-tail pages may not yet have been individually audited against every WCAG 2.1 AA success criterion, even though the shared page templates they are built from have been.
- PDF or print-formatted checklists are designed primarily for on-screen ticking and printing rather than screen-reader use; the on-screen HTML version is the accessible version.
Reporting An Accessibility Problem
If you encounter a barrier using this site — a control you cannot reach with a keyboard, text a screen reader cannot read, or contrast that is hard to see — please tell us through the contact page or by emailing editorial@4x4andoverlanding.com. Include the page URL and, if you can, the assistive technology or browser you were using. We will investigate and aim to fix confirmed issues promptly; see our Complaints & Feedback page for how we handle reports generally.
