The current F-Series Super Duty dates to Ford's all-new 2023 truck and comes as the F-250, F-350 (single or dual rear wheels) and F-450 pickup. Four-wheel drive is an option with a shift-on-the-fly transfer case and a solid front axle, and the Tremor Off-Road Package adds a lift, a limited-slip front axle and 35-inch tires. For 2026, conventional towing reaches 30,000 lb on an F-450 and gooseneck towing 40,000 lb. The 2020–2021 steering recall, NHTSA 25V626, covers 115,539 trucks.

| Any with the Tremor Off-Road Package | Trails and rough job sites | 35-inch tires and 10.5 inches of clearance |
Generations and Model Years
Ford revealed the all-new 2023 F-Series Super Duty on September 27, 2022, and the 2026 pickups carry that design, built at Kentucky Truck Plant and Ohio Assembly Plant. Ford's 2026 specifications describe a fully boxed high-strength steel frame and a military-grade aluminum-alloy body, in Regular Cab, SuperCab and Crew Cab. The 2026 trims are XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum, with FX4 and Tremor off-road packages. NHTSA's recall files show the earlier Super Duty ran through the 2022 model year alongside it: several campaigns, such as 22V087 for 2017–2022 F-250 and F-350 gas trucks, stop at 2022. Because the 2023 truck was redesigned, bumpers, grilles, lighting and interior parts are listed by model-year range; check the range before buying.
4WD System and Off-Road Packages
On 2026 pickups, rear-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive uses an optional electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) transfer case. Four-wheel-drive F-250s and F-350s use a mono-beam front axle on coil springs with a narrow front track, while the F-450 uses a wider mono-beam front; two-wheel-drive F-250s and F-350s use Ford's independent twin I-beam front. Every Super Duty uses a solid rear axle on leaf springs.
| Package (2026) | What it adds | Factory tire |
|---|---|---|
| Standard 4x4 | ESOF two-speed transfer case | LT245/75R17 (XL), LT275/65R18 (XLT, Lariat), LT275/65R20 A/T (King Ranch, Platinum) |
| FX4 Off-Road Package | Off-road equipment on F-250 and F-350 SRW | LT275/70R18 all-terrain |
| Tremor Off-Road Package | Front-end lift, tuned suspension, Dana front axle with limited-slip differential and vent tubes, Trail Control, rock-crawl drive mode, Trail Turn Assist | LT285/75R18 all-terrain (35-inch Goodyear) |
A limited-slip front differential sends more torque to the wheel with grip without locking both front wheels together. Ford's 2026 dimensions put a Tremor crew cab at 10.5 inches of minimum running ground clearance, against 9.1–9.5 inches for other 4x4 crew cabs, and at 84.0 inches tall against about 81.5.

Engines, Towing and Payload (2026)
| Engine | Output | Transmission |
|---|---|---|
| 6.8L gas V8 | 405 hp, 445 lb-ft | TorqShift-G 10-speed (10R100) |
| 7.3L gas V8 | 430 hp, 485 lb-ft | 10R100 or heavy-duty 10R140 |
| 6.7L Power Stroke diesel V8 | 475 hp, 1,050 lb-ft | Heavy-duty TorqShift 10-speed (10R140) |
| 6.7L High-Output Power Stroke | 500 hp, 1,200 lb-ft | Heavy-duty TorqShift 10-speed (10R140) |
| Model | GVWR | Max payload | Max conventional | Max 5th-wheel/gooseneck |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F-250 SRW | 10,000–11,400 lb | 4,246 lb | 22,000 lb | 23,000 lb |
| F-350 SRW | 10,100–12,400 lb | 5,137 lb | 25,000 lb | 27,600 lb |
| F-350 DRW | 14,000 lb | 7,774 lb | 28,000 lb | 38,000 lb |
| F-450 DRW | 14,000 lb | 6,322 lb | 30,000 lb | 40,000 lb |
Those are the peaks in Ford's 2026 tables, each for one specific configuration: the highest towing ratings need the 6.7L diesel, particular axle ratios and packages such as the F-450 High-Capacity Gooseneck Tow Package, and the highest payloads come on two-wheel-drive gas trucks. Ford's notes set tongue weight at 10% of a conventional trailer's loaded weight and 15% for fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailers, and the combined weight may never exceed the truck's GCWR. The door-jamb label gives the payload of a specific truck.
Cab, Bed and Axle Configurations: What Changes for Fitment
| Cab | Box | Wheelbase |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Cab | 8 ft | 141.5 in |
| SuperCab | 6.75 ft or 8 ft | 147.8 in or 164.1 in |
| Crew Cab | 6.75 ft or 8 ft | 159.7 in or 175.9 in |
Tonneau covers and bed products follow box length; running boards, seat covers and floor liners follow the cab. Rear-wheel count matters most: dual-rear-wheel trucks are 105.9 inches wide at the fenders with a rear track of about 74.6–74.8 inches, against 80.0 inches and 67.2 inches for single-rear-wheel trucks, so wheels, fender flares and mud flaps differ. The F-450's wide-track front axle and 225/70R19.5 tires set it apart again. GVWR class matters for suspension parts, since F-250, F-350 and F-450 trucks carry different spring and axle ratings.
Recall History (NHTSA)
For 2017–2026 F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty pickups, NHTSA's database lists 64 vehicle recall campaigns as of September 2026, many shared with other Ford trucks. The largest that are specific to the Super Duty:
| NHTSA campaign | Filed | Model years | Problem | Units |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 19V880 | Dec 2019 | 2017–2019 Crew Cab with carpet | Sparks from a deploying seat-belt pretensioner can ignite carpet or B-pillar insulation | 490,574 |
| 24V957 | Dec 2024 | 2020–2022 diesel | Biodiesel deposits can cause the high-pressure fuel pump to fail and cut drive power | 295,449 |
| 25V686 | Oct 2025 | 2020–2022 | 360-degree camera may not show the rear image properly in some light | 291,901 |
| 22V087 | Feb 2022 | 2017–2022 F-250/F-350 gas | Loose heat shields can damage the aluminum driveshaft until it fractures | 247,445 |
| 25V626 | Sep 2025 | 2020–2021 F-250/F-350/F-450 | Upper steering shaft can detach from the column, causing loss of steering control | 115,539 |
| 23V595 | Aug 2023 | 2023 F-250/F-350 SRW, 10.5-inch axle | Left rear axle shaft may be improperly heat-treated and break | 41,555 |
| 21V536 | Jul 2021 | 2020–2021 F-350 diesel, Dana 275 axle | Rear axle housing can deform under load and let the driveshaft separate | 27,604 |
For the 25V626 steering campaign, dealers inspect the column and repair or replace the upper shaft; owner letters went out in February 2026. Truck owners who tow should also check 26V104, a 4,381,878-vehicle campaign that includes 2022–2026 Super Duty pickups, for an integrated trailer module that can lose trailer lights or brakes. NHTSA's VIN lookup shows whether a specific truck still has open campaigns.
