Bridgestone was founded in 1931 in Kurume, Japan, by Shojiro Ishibashi. It opened a US sales headquarters in Los Angeles in 1967, bought its first US plant in Nashville in 1983, and in 1988 acquired Firestone, then the second-largest US tire maker. Bridgestone Americas is based in Nashville. Two Dueler all-terrains are covered here, and only one of them is sold in the US.

Dueler A/T Ascent
Bridgestone announced the Dueler A/T Ascent in Nashville on August 13, 2024, as its first all-terrain with ENLITEN Technology, and aimed it at large-wheel, late-model luxury and top-trim trucks and SUVs. The launch release listed 35 fitments between 17 and 22 inches; the current official chart has 37 sizes across 17-22in wheels, in XL and Load Ranges C and E, with 12-16/32in of tread depending on size. Bridgestone describes it as its premium all-terrain, combining on-road comfort with off-road capability. It lists a sawtooth tread with staggered shoulder blocks and a traction-focused center rib, full-depth interlocking 3D sipes for biting edges on wet and wintry roads, and ENLITEN Technology aimed at all-season performance, longer wear and a quiet ride. It is 3-Peak Mountain Snowflake certified and backed by a 60,000-mile limited tread-life warranty on all sizes. There are no 15in or 16in sizes, so older trucks on smaller wheels will need to look elsewhere.
Passenger vs LT Versions of the Ascent
The same nominal size can come in two very different constructions. The Ascent's 265/70R17 passenger size is 115 T, which Goodyear's load-index chart puts at 2,679 lb per tire and 118 mph, with 12/32in of tread. The LT265/70R17 is a Load Range E at 123 S: 3,417 lb and 112 mph, with 15/32in of tread. That is 738 lb more rated capacity per tire, or 2,952 lb across four. LT285/70R17 is 126 R (3,748 lb, 106 mph), and LT275/70R18 is 125 S (3,638 lb, 112 mph) with 16/32in of tread. The one Load Range C size, LT255/75R17 111 R, is rated 2,403 lb per tire, below most of the passenger sizes, so the LT label alone does not guarantee more capacity. At the other end, LT295/70R18 is 129 S, or 4,079 lb per tire, the highest rating in the Ascent line. Eight passenger and XL sizes, such as 255/55R19 111 H and 285/45R22 114 H, are H-rated to 130 mph; the rest are T-rated (118 mph). The 17 LT sizes carry 14-16/32in of tread, and 11 of them are S-rated (112 mph) and 6 R-rated (106 mph).
Only the passenger sizes carry a UTQG grade. The federal Uniform Tire Quality Grading rule (49 CFR 575.104) applies to passenger-car tires, which is why the LT sizes are ungraded. The non-LT Ascent sizes are graded traction A and temperature B, and Bridgestone publishes no treadwear grade for them. Under the rule, traction A means a wet-braking coefficient above 0.47 on asphalt and above 0.35 on concrete. Temperature B means the tire completed the regulation's 500 rpm test stage but not the 575 rpm stage required for an A.
Why the Dueler A/T002 Isn't a US Option
The A/T002 is a European-market tire: its launch and size listings come from Bridgestone's EMEA press office and UK site, and a search of Bridgestone's US tire site returns no result for it. Its EMEA specifications describe the European product, including 3PMSF and M+S on every EMEA size and a 40% mileage gain over the Dueler A/T001 in an internal benchmark on 265/65R17. Bridgestone EMEA credits a high-silica compound for wet grip and Z-shaped sipes for extra biting edges. The launch announced 43 sizes, and the current EMEA list runs 41 sizes on 15-19in wheels, none of them with a published tread depth. US buyers looking at a Dueler all-terrain are looking at the A/T Ascent.
Platinum Pact, Mileage Warranty and Buy & Try
Bridgestone's 2024 US replacement-tire manual sets out three layers of coverage. The Platinum Pact Limited Warranty covers eligible Bridgestone passenger and light truck tires, except winter and temporary spare tires, against conditions within the manufacturer's control. Replacement is free, including mounting and balancing, for 3 years from purchase (4 years from manufacture without proof of purchase). After that it is prorated by the share of tread worn, up to 5 years from purchase or 6 years from manufacture. Weather and ozone cracking is left out of the free-replacement period and is covered only at a prorated charge.
The mileage warranty is separate and has no free-replacement period. A tire qualifies only if it wears evenly, with no more than 2/32in difference between any two major grooves, down to the 2/32in wear bars; tires with more than 4/32in left are not accepted. The charge is the share of warranted miles used. An Ascent that wears out at 45,000 miles against its 60,000-mile warranty is replaced for 75% of the dealer's current price. Commercial-service tires and original equipment tires have no mileage warranty.
The manual excludes road-hazard damage (punctures, cuts, impact breaks, stone drilling, bruises and snags), overloading, improper inflation, and use for racing or competition. The 90 Day Buy & Try Guarantee lets a buyer return a full set of four or more tires within 90 days for credit toward a new set of Bridgestone or Firestone tires. It is limited to one set per vehicle in any 12-month period and excludes flotation sizes and OE tires.
Coverage also depends on how the tire was bought and fitted. The tire must have been bought and mainly used in the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii or DC, and it must be a size and speed rating equal to or greater than the vehicle maker's spec. It must also stay on the vehicle it was first mounted on and be less than 10 years past its manufacture date. Rapid tread wear or wear-out is not a Platinum Pact claim at all; it is handled only under the mileage warranty.
Bridgestone's Firestone All-Terrains
Firestone tires fall under the same Bridgestone Americas manual, with their own Gold Pledge warranty. Firestone's Destination A/T2 is a passenger-construction all-terrain with a 55,000-mile warranty. The Destination X/T is an LT hybrid with a 50,000-mile warranty, and the Transforce AT2 is a commercial-grade LT tire with no mileage warranty. Among the Bridgestone Americas all-terrains covered here, the Dueler A/T Ascent pairs 3PMSF with the longest mileage warranty.
